AVOID!
The hotel is run down. Our room felt like being in a dungeon, it only had a door and no windows. It smelled terrible. A lot of effort in the bathroom, good shower, but terribly uncomfortable toilet.
We booked through Booking and we never got any response to our inquiries. From there, we started to have a bad feeling about our choice. The costumer service of this hotel is completely terrible. It is obvious they don't care at all about being good hosts and making the guest welcome.
Coming from a hotel booked also through Booking in Rocamadour, where the owner greeted us personally with such grace and friendliness, it was a complete shock.
Here we didn't feel comfortable or welcomed. Everything had an odd vibe. Kind of depressing.
Thank goodness for the view to Saint Cirq, at least something to cheer us up. We couldn't wait for morning to come so we could leave and have it behind us.
I would reccomend against booking here
Amazing surprise on our way back from Spain to Paris. Everything was top quality from room quality to the view on the village, and the breakfast. We decided to extend for one night to further enjoy the location. The owner is master of the ceremony (hosting, serving and cooking the breakfast… amazing pain perdu and much more discoveries of local products …) and helped us along our stay to take most advantage of our time there. I highly recommend the place and surely will be back.

There are many chic, friendly, helpful accommodations in this area. No need to expose yourself to this one.
Like others on this space, I was treated with disdain, arrogance, indifference by the owner/manager of the Hotel Spa Saint Cirq.
We contacted the hotel directly to modify a booking date and were advised to do so by going through Expedia where the initial booking had been made. The owner confirmed there was still a room available for our requested date.
Expedia then recorded our modification request, also assured us of an available room, and advised that the hotel would be asked to validate the new date by email, including the increase in price.
Not only did the owner ignore the request for 48 hours, but on our arrival he recognized our name, and immediately announced that our booking had been cancelled. With zero concern or apology he said no other rooms were available. He went on to criticise Expedia as "a business that just collects money and that he never responds to their modification of date emails".
An exceptional experience
We took a 2 day r&r break from walking the Chemin St Jacques at this hotel. The staff, but Eric in particular made every effort to make our stay as welcoming and comfortable as possible and, that it was. Then, the breakfasts, ab delicious right down to the chocolate and walnut gateaux de maison. But it was to free shuttle into St Circq Lapopie to enjoy dinner at Le Gourmais Quercynois that was the true ‘icing on the cake’. Sincere thanks, Clodagh & Jerry (Ireland)
I agree with other poor reviews for this hotel. I was greeted at reception with epic rudeness. After working with Expedia to alter the dates of my stay, the hotelier said he hated working with Expedia and so couldn't be bothered to accept their date change and booking request. This is after the hoteliers insisted I must go through Expedia to make the change after calling the hotel directly a few days prior. So, in the end, there was no room for us and we received a snobbish chiding for having been so 'basic' as to have booked through Expedia.
I travel in France a lot. It's behaviour like this that give the French a reputation for being rude. Thankfully this is the exception, not the rule. I won't be returning to Hotel Spa Le St. Cirq and I hope you'll avoid it too.
Very comfortable, lovely room overlooking the vineyard and across the river to Saint Cirq Lapopie which is absolutely stunning!
Breakfast was great with a good choice of foods. The receptionist was charming and very helpful and the free bus to the restaurant and back last night was an unexpected bonus!
If you enjoy subpar communication and being gaslit, then this place is for you! Otherwise, please keep reading.
In March, I originally booked (direct booking) one night for September to attend my best friend’s wedding nearby. I accidentally booked the wrong date by one night but I caught the error within the refund period and asked the hotel for an adjustment. Assia replied promptly and kindly accommodated my request.
Between then and now, I needed to take medical leave for a few months, significantly decreasing my usual income. Still needing to get my friend a wedding gift but being tight on funds, I decided to offer her this booking. She loves spas and picturesque scenery. A perfect gift.
So, a few weeks ago I emailed the hotel, asking for a second change of date since she wasn’t available on the dates I reserved. I expected to pay any difference due to the date change. Assia replied promptly again, letting me know that the dates my friend requested were not available but was “waiting for my return” (aka reply). The following day I responded with alternate dates. Days passed. It’s summer, maybe they were busy. About a week later, I sent a follow up, concerned that weekends would book up quickly as we approached August.
A reply finally arrived 10 hours later. It read, “Non” (no). That’s it. No salutation. No reason. No name/signature. Not even a period. I was confused. The cancellation policy allows modifications, Assia said she was awaiting my reply, and my language was simple and polite. Surely this email was sent accidentally. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, asking once more for the requested change of dates and verifying if the previous email was meant to be sent.
No reply. At this point, I did not feel the hotel was reliable. After waiting three days, I sent an email explaining the cause of my frustration and requested a cancellation and refund (at this point I thought my card was already charged but it wasn’t).
Now, I got a reply:
“We can not allow to modify a reservation more than 3 times, that's why you are not welcome in our hotel anymore.” - The Booking Department.
Huh? Nowhere in their cancellation terms is there any mention of limited modifications (by the way, the terms in the confirmation email and English site are in French only). Also, I only made one modification, not three. Therefore, after abiding by their cancellation policy, asking for changes respectfully, waiting patiently for responses while giving staff the benefit of the doubt, I am no longer welcome because of the hotel’s error/misunderstanding.
Because of the general signature (The Booking Department), I can only deduce that the writer is the owner/manager but doesn’t want to take any accountability. When this type of unprofessionalism is coming from the top of the business, the standard of quality is reflected in the service, rooms and amenities. Finally, I cannot trust a person or business who makes up the rules as they go. I would rather support businesses that appreciate their guests and are willing to help with requests or issues, not only when money is being added to their pockets.
Very picturesque hotel with comfortable rooms that grants the nicest and most spectacular view of the ancient stone buildings of St Cirq Lapopie from your private patio area. A small vineyard surrounds the rooms. It’s also got convenient parking, a nice breakfast area. A 5 minute drive to the village center. Highly recommend it.
